Lovely swatches! I personally don’t feel like trying DR gouache again, the first time I did the consistency was very gummy and the colour didn’t spread nicely. Your swatches look nice though!
yay, happy to see you post to Substack, Natasha! (it's Kathleen, one of your Patreon people, btw 😊). I've been on Substack for about a year, and subscribe mostly to women Substackers writing about feminism and aging and the complexities of life. Deep stuff, so it will be nice to have you (and Melanie Chadwick, who is posting more often) show up in my inbox too.
I was wondering if you would post different content here from your other social media, given that it just adds more work to your already busy life. For me, I'm all over posts about art supplies and materials and colour palettes, so I am very happy that this will be your focus! I just hope I can control myself and keep from buying MORE supplies when I am inspired by yours. 😉
Hello Kathleen, it's lovely to see you here! I had to think for quite a while about what I wanted to post on here that seemed like a nice addition to the Patreon & YouTube content, but not identical. I hope you'll enjoy it (and don't buy too many new supplies!). ;)
Lovely to see you here. The palette colours are gorgeous. I’m every tempted with the Sandstone and Brown Pink, both colours I wouldn’t ordinarily choose - being an aqua colours girl 🩵💛🤎
I’ve been on Substack for 18 months and experimenting with writing a blog for life writing, possibly to write a memoir. I may have been an earlier follower of your and saw that you weren’t posting so I’m delighted to read your first post.
Hello my darling .. I feel like I'm following you around like a bad smell!! 🤣
Lovely first post .. yumscrummydumshus colour choices too. I like the quietness of substack & am thinking I may start up posting here myself in the not too distant.
Ha ha, it's lovely to see you here, Jo! A bad smell you are not. 😂 I'm finding Substack very calm and inspiring. It would be interesting to see what you post if you decide to start one! Hugs to you too. :)
That paper is nice Natasha but they want over 4x the cost of the little swatch cards for just the shipping to Canada...so...I figure ...since I have a sheet of Arches 180GSM/90pounds 100% cotton...22x30 inches...I can get 110 swatch cards @ 2" x 3" from one sheet...which is about $10 CAD here. I think the 2" x 3" size would be a nice size to keep swatches together in a long box...and pulling them out to compare...and adding to them...would be a breeze.
That's a great idea, Janis! I often cut up larger sheets of watercolour paper to make tiny pieces for my miniature paintings. The one thing I do need to do is to find a little filing system/box for my swatches!
So lovely to see you post here! I like the "quietness" of Substack.
I've recently tried some beautiful colours from the Turner Acrylic Gouache Japanesque range. Stunning! I feel like a long time ago, you had a few Japanesque colours?
Those supplies are fantastic. What weight are the papers?
I love the Turner Japanesque colours and the slight texture they have! The small sheets of paper are 150gsm and the paper book is 120gsm. I hope that you're having a lovely weekend too!
Oh I agree, they're lovely. I actually tried one of the Japanese print brushes with them, to spread them over printing paper. The result was buttery and smooth. I uses a pale pink. I had a look at the RAA website. Thank you for paper info.
The paper looks really interesting. Is it Khadi? On another note I’m starting to feel like a bit of a stalker 🤣 I’m not though, I just really enjoy your content and the calming atmosphere of your videos, and obviously your art! Xx
It's exactly like Khadi paper, I love the texture. Thank you for joining me on here, Samantha! I'm so glad that you enjoy the things I share online. :)
Those little pans ♥️♥️♥️ Do you have a link?
Those ceramic paint pans 😍 I love the colour combinations, such a lovely balance between warms and colds
Thank you! I often try to have a balance between warm and cool tones in my work as I think it creates a nice contrast. :)
Lovely swatches! I personally don’t feel like trying DR gouache again, the first time I did the consistency was very gummy and the colour didn’t spread nicely. Your swatches look nice though!
Thanks Carol! These ones are perfect. I haven't had a dud one yet!
Hi Natasha, those look lovely new art materials. I can’t wait to see what you make with them xxx
Thanks Louise! Lovely to see you here. :)

They're both quite unusual and beautiful colours! It sounds like you were an early adopter of Substack, Lynn! I'm subscribed to you now too. :)
Thank you 🙏

Yay - so excited to see you posting here, Natasha! I love your idea to use this platform to share more about your favorite art supplies.
Thanks for joining me on here and for your kind words, Caroline!
